The library is exercising prudent caution. Please see below for details.

Opening

4/5/21

The Independence Public Library will be resuming regular staffed hours beginning April 5th. Our regular hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Open Access hours will be Monday through Friday 5:45 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. For more information on Open Access visit iplks.org.

The library will be open to the public with some restrictions. Masks will be required at all times, we ask that you try to limit your visit to under an hour and that children under 16 are accompanied by an adult. To return items please use the outside dropbox located west of the main entrance. For your safety and ours we are encouraging contactless checkout by using our self-check-out kiosk by the entryway. Library staff will be available for limited help on request, we have installed a help kiosk on the first floor, and updated our computers to provide remote help. For those who are high risk or do not want to wear masks we will continue to offer curbside pickup during our regular business hours. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Open Access

5/27/20

The Independence Public Library has been working hard to ensure that the library is safe for our community and staff. Libraries have evolved over the years to become a community center, and in a time of social distancing, amenities that we are used to at the library have become unsafe. While we continue to work diligently reorganizing the library and services to comply with CDC recommendations, we will begin offering Open Access starting June 15. Open Access patrons will be able to use the library Friday’s from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday’s, Sunday’s, and Monday’s from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The community is encouraged to wear masks, practice good hygiene, and adhere to social distancing. If you are not registered for Open Access, you can register online (HERE) or by calling the library at 620.331.3030.

The library will still offer curbside pick-up Wednesday’s and Thursday’s from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Independence Public Library understands that these are unprecedented times, and is doing everything we can to provide safe, quality services that you know and deserve. We look forward to serving the community and providing the resources and services you need to meet your recreational and educational endeavors.

Curbside Delivery

5/21/20

The Independence Public Library has begun curbside pick-up twice a week. IPL is taking every precaution available to ensure that the community and staff remain safe during this time, and that items being checked-out and in are thoroughly decontaminated. Curbside pick-up is five easy steps: 1. Place up to five items on hold by logging onto your SEKNFIND.ORG account, or calling the library. 2. Library staff will then pull your items from the shelves, and call you to set up a time between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, Wednesdays or Thursdays. 3. When you arrive at the library for your scheduled pick-up, call the library to notify us you are there. 4. Open the trunk of your car, and return to your vehicle. 5. IPL staff will bring out your items and place them in your trunk for contactless, curbside. If you would like to return items, please place them in the drop boxes outside the building, to be quarantined. IPL looks forward to serving our community in the safest way possible. Below are detailed instructions for Curbside Pick-Up. If you have any questions, call the library at 620.331.3030 or email us at library@3.128.115.212.
